Customer Service Team Takes Leap for Breast Cancer!

20th April 2011

Our Customer Service team will be participating in a charity sky dive on Saturday September 3rd.

The team, consisting of Oliver Parsons, Jenni Roden and Ben Oliver, will be taking the 10,000 foot leap from the Nottingham Air Field in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

Oliver says of the challenge “we chose to do a skydive as it is different and not many people would voluntarily throw themselves out of a plane in aid of charity! Whittaker’s have always supported Breast Cancer related charities so we wanted to carry on the tradition.”

“Any donations to help us reach our target will be greatly appreciated”

Further information and how to donate can be found on the team’s fundraising page

Nearly 50,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK alone. It is now the most common form of cancer in the country, with 1 in 8 women being diagnosed with the disease. However, breast cancer doesn’t just affect women. 341 men were diagnosed with it in 2008.

Breast Cancer Care want every person affected by breast cancer in the UK to get the best treatment, information and support available. They do this by:

  • Providing information and offering emotional and practical support
  • Bringing people affected by breast cancer together
  • Campaign for improvements in standards of support and care
  • Promote the importance of early detection
