Congratulations to Matt

We would like to take this opportunity to say well done to Matt North who was picked to receive the student of the year award at Stephenson College this month.

 

Since joining us in May 2009 Matt has worked hard to gain his NVQ in warehousing and distribution for which he was part of the ‘New Deal’ scheme provided by the college. However it soon became apparent to everyone here at Whittakers that Matt had many other qualities to offer. Therefore he began a duel role, working towards his NVQ, as well as learning admin tasks such as returns and end of day reports. Taking everything in his stride, Matt’s enthusiasm and willingness to learn new skills ensured that it wasn’t long before his role with us had developed into a multitude of responsibilities including warehousing, admin and deliveries.

 

After gaining his NVQ Matt was offered a full time position here at Whittakers which then made him eligible for the award. Picked from a group of 5 other candidates, Matt was presented with the award of student of the year by Frances O’Grady, TUC Deputy General Secretary on 4th December 2009. It was decided that Matt’s commitment to the project and his overall attitude and enthusiasm made him stand out amongst the other candidates.

     

We see our staff’s individual achievements as personal ones here at Whittakers and take great pride in saying congratulations to Matt for all his hard work.
